Call for Participation: Management Development Workshop (Madev Vi)

The Association of African Universities (AAU) is pleased to announce the sixth edition of its Management Development (MADEV) Training Workshop to be held in Zomba, Malawi in collaboration with the University of Malawi from 24th to 27th August, 2015.

BRIEF OVERVIEW OF THE 6th EDITION OF  MADEV

The AAU Management Development (MADEV) Workshop is a component of the Association’s programme on leadership and management of HEIs sponsored by the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF). The MADEV Workshops replaced the Senior University Management (SUMA) Workshop Series, which ran from 1991 to 2003. Five previous MADEV Workshops have been held in Accra (Ghana), Morogoro, (Tanzania), Gaborone (Botswana), Douala (Cameroon) and Cape Coast (Ghana) respectively.

OBJECTIVE OF THE WORKSHOP

The AAU MADEV provides a forum for discussion of topical African higher education issues and equips middle level university and HEI managers with appropriate skills and information to help them appreciate the environment and use available resources effectively to achieve organisational goals. Participants would have a better understanding of what it means to be a university manager within the changing context of higher education in Africa.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Participants are expected to have experience in operating at a strategic level in an African higher education institution or other comparable organisation, and personal commitment to further learning, career development and progression at the most senior levels. Although MADEV generally targets newly appointed Pro/Deputy Vice Chancellors, Vice Rectors, Deans, Deputy Deans, Directors/Coordinators of Institutes and Heads of Academic Departments, holders of these positions who are in their first term of office as well as persons who are aspiring to these positions, are free to attend.
