Improving Higher Education Recruitment through the African Jobs Board Project

The African Jobs Board is a project which seeks to create a central Academic Jobs Board for African universities and Higher Education Institutions to actively recruit for various Academic and Non-Academic roles in their institutions. In a survey carried out by the Association of African Universities,  we realised that a high number of universities and Higher Education bodies have staffing gaps which they want to fill with experts in those fields, however their adverts go on for so long with many of these staffing gaps still not being filled after months and years of advertisement.  This project seeks to make the advertising process easier , by creating a central platform where stakeholders of the African Higher Education community, with varied skill set will frequently visit for job advertisement and opportunities.  The project aims to also help improve academic mobility among Africans – both on the continent and in the Diaspora.

Our Aim

To increase the visibility of higher education jobs in Africa, supporting the aspirations of government and Higher Education institutions to retain academic talent within Africa and promote academic mobility between educational institutions across Africa.

Project Objectives

  • Develop a standalone African Jobs Board (Website), based on the design of jobs.ac.uk, which will be linked to the AAU website
  • Provide accessibility to the African Jobs Board in the four official languages of AAU – English, French, Arabic and Portuguese
  • Post both academic and non academic jobs at Universities and Higher Education institutions across Africa.
  • Generate further insights into the academic jobs market in Africa.

Launching in November 2020 our African Jobs board (website) will be the first website for the region serving vacancies within the TE Sector,
to include academic and non academic jobs at Universities and Higher Education institutions across Africa.

The African Jobs Board also intends to include:

  • PhDs opportunities
