Workshop Aim:

The workshop aims to share knowledge and skills related to HE QA through sensitization and bringing awareness of what quality in HE is all about and the current continental and regional activities related to quality assurance. It seeks to minimize resistance to institutional QA practices and activities while dealing with the slow acceptance rate of QA in general by some HE communities. Strategies for developing and promoting a quality culture in institutions through education and training of management, staff and students will also be considered together with the integration of QA into the university systems. Assuring adherence to QA practices by institutional communities and formulation of instruments to set up, check, control and maintain the quality of HEIs will be discussed. The development of knowledge and skills for HE QA personnel, because they are recruited with no due consideration of QA qualifications will be dealt with. The development of knowledge and skills for HE personnel (lecturers, registrars, deans, chairpersons) because they are the custodians of quality in departments, faculties, student enrolments, staff recruitments, record keeping and examination process etc will also be examined. I am a lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry, University of Calabar, Nigeria. I would have loved to attend the workshop on quality assurance in higher education coming up in Kumasi, Ghana October 31 to November 3, 2017 but for the registration fee. The economic situation in Nigeria is biting deep. I wish there could be a waver. I also want to know if the registration fee includes accommodation and feeding. Thanks.

      Dear Dr Margret,

Thanks for the communication. We could discount you a bit. The workshop is fee paying and currently we do not have sponsored workshops. The fees does not include accommodation and dinner. Kumasi accommodation is fairly cheap and affordable too. Kindly send me your e-mail address and WhatsApp number so that I can update you. How much can you pay so that I can forward your request to the Finance Dept?

If my University falls under member universities, i.e. University of Calabar, Nigeria, I’ll wish and appeal that I’m allowed to register with USD 200 so that I can make provision for accommodation and feeding. Thanks.

    Dear Waceke,

The registration covers the conference venue, teas and lunches for the days. It also used to pay the facilitators and to purchase other conference materials.

Accommodation and transport are the participant’s responsibility but generally Kumasi accommodation (university guest houses) are very much affordable, up to around US$50 or less in some cases. Local transport to and from the venue is normally provided too.

May I please have your WhatsApp number and e-mail address so that I can continue communicating with you.

Looking forward to seeing you there!!!!!!!!!!
