The Association of African Universities (AAU) will hold\u00a0its\u00a024^{th<\/sup> Biennial Conference of Rectors, Vice Chancellors, and Presidents of African Universities (COREVIP)<\/strong>\u00a0in July 2027. The AAU hereby invites applications from member institutions for the co-hosting of this prestigious conference.<\/p>\n}

COREVIP is an assembly of the Chief Executive Officers of AAU member institutions or their representatives. It is held once every two years with the purpose of:<\/p>\n

\n
1. collectively examining themes identified as common concerns and priorities for the development of higher education in member institutions and Africa in general,<\/li>\n
2. making recommendations primarily to members, as well as to the Governing Board of the Association, and to the Secretariat, and<\/li>\n
3. acting as a mid-term forum for taking stock of the implementation of the decisions of the previous AAU General Conference and recommending corrective actions.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

   The AAU\u2019s statutory conferences, such as the COREVIP, are normally jointly organized with a member institution in good standing, ie. having zero arrears in annual subscription payment. In light of this, the AAU invites applications from its member institutions in good standing for the co-hosting of this prestigious biennial conference. It should be noted that the co-hosting of this most important event on the calendar of the African higher education community provides very high-level visibility and exposure to the host institution and country because of the calibre and number of academic leaders, policymakers, researchers, development partners, industry, and other stakeholders that usually attend it, and it is, therefore, a highly sought-after event.<\/p>\n

   The Host\u2019s Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n

   The host university will be expected to contribute to the organisation of the Conference, financially or in kind, in the areas of:<\/p>\n

   \n
   • Local transportation for participants.<\/li>\n
   • Airport \u201cmeet and greet\u201d (reception and facilitation of immigration procedures).<\/li>\n
   • Traditional items as gifts to presenters and sessional chairs.<\/li>\n
   • Welcome reception or dinner for participants.<\/li>\n
   • Publicity and media coverage (local press, radio and TV, conference photographer).<\/li>\n
   • Arrangement of courtesy calls by the Governing Board on appropriate government authorities in the host country.<\/li>\n
   • Arrangement of excursion visits by delegates.<\/li>\n
   • Providing the Secretariat for the Conference (equipment and supplies).<\/li>\n
   • Decorations, banners, invitations to Opening\/Closing Ceremony and receptions.<\/li>\n
   • Cultural display during open and closing ceremonies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
