Advanced Diplomacy, Protocol and Etiquette Certificate Workshop

14 -17 May ,2019 / Reduit, Mauritius

Institutions are largely intercultural, interconnected and continuously seeking for innovative ways of delivering value to the global society. In addition to this, they are expected to be able to confront challenging and new situations confidently, particularly when dealing with high ranking officials. Such demands require staff who can act in line with internationally accepted practices of diplomacy, etiquette and protocol. This workshop will bridge your knowledge about diplomacy, protocol and etiquette – and will demonstrate how all these are applied to all the sectors of society.
Protocol is a rule of diplomatic procedure, ceremony and etiquette observed by Heads of State/Government, diplomats, government dignitaries and intergovernmental organizations. It is an especially important art for low, middle and higher-level personnel, tasked with portfolios that involve diplomacy, protocol and etiquette. The Cambridge Dictionary website defines Diplomacy as the skill in dealing with people without offending or upsetting them: Typically, diplomacy is associated with careers of Government officials, diplomats and other dignitaries around the world.
The Management Study Guide website describes ‘etiquette’ as the guidelines which control the way a responsible individual should behave in the society. There are several types of etiquette and these include social etiquette, corporate etiquette, business etiquette, meeting etiquette, telephone etiquette and several others.

This workshop will introduce participants to the ceremonial aspects of protocol procedures, principles and rules that define diplomacy, rules of courteousness in society and respect for precedence. It also seeks to equip participants with the requisite tools to guide them to better understand the expected conduct or behaviour of ranked officials, including managers, and leaders, that they work closely with.
This course is designed to equip you with skills to become thoughtful and empower you with critical skills to succeed in today’s everchanging, multicultural and demanding workplace.
