This four-day intensive workshop is designed to bring together senior leaders and institutional change agents from across the African higher education ecosystem. The primary objective is to equip participants with the strategic vision and practical tools necessary to lead effective digital transformation initiatives within their institutions. The programme will focus on strengthening institutional capacity in three critical pillars: Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence (AI) Governance, and Digital Skills productivity.
Workshop participants will engage in strategic keynotes, scenario-based workshops, hands-on labs, and collaborative capstone projects covering cybersecurity risk assessment, ethical AI integration, digital productivity tools, and the development of personalized 12-Month Digital Transformation Action Plans, culminating in the launch of the AAU Digital Leaders Network. A core deliverable for each participating institution will be the development of a tailored Institutional Action Plan, providing a concrete roadmap for advancing digital transformation upon return to their home universities. Additionally, participants will gain membership in a pan-African network of digital leaders, fostering ongoing collaboration and peer support across the continent.
The workshop addresses the urgent need for African universities to build institutional readiness in the face of rapid technological change. By focusing on cybersecurity and institutional risk management, AI adoption and governance, and digital skills productivity, the programme aims to produce tangible outcomes, including:
- Enhanced institutional capacity for digital transformation.
- Improved cybersecurity readiness and risk mitigation.
- Responsible adoption and governance of AI technologies.
- Stronger continental collaboration among African universities.
This integrated workshop represents a critical step in translating online learning into on-the-ground impact. It empowers the very staff who drive African universities, equipping them with the skills, tools, peer connections, and strategic plans needed to lead their institutions through a responsible and effective digital transformation.
The workshop participation fee is $400 per participant. This fee covers:
- Accommodation
- Workshop materials and resources.
- Daily feeding (lunch and refreshments).
