Accra, Ghana – December 1st, 2025 – Njala University and eLearnLXD have unveiled a $250,000 partial scholarship program to support 500 civil servant professionals enrolling in Sierra Leone’s first fully online Master of Business Administration (MBA) program. Each accepted student will be eligible for up to $500 in financial assistance, dramatically reducing the cost barrier to advanced business education for public sector professionals across Africa.
This landmark initiative, developed through a strategic partnership between the Association of African Universities (AAU) and eLearnLXD/eLearnAfricaLMS, represents a significant advancement in making quality postgraduate education accessible to working professionals throughout Africa, especially the ECOWAS sub-region. The program is delivered through the innovative eLearnAfricaLXD platform, offering flexible self-paced learning with live interactive discussions and multimedia coursework accessible from any location.
The program aligns with President Julius Maada Bio’s vision for education as a cornerstone of national development. As stated in The Calabash Newspaper, President Bio emphasized, “We already know the impact of education as a cross-cutting driver for inclusive and sustainable development. Nations that have achieved rapid and sustainable economic growth have done so by developing the most productive resource in any nation: human capital.”
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Bashiru Koroma reinforced this commitment, “Collaborating with eLearnLXD enables us to deliver an MBA that is both accessible and aligned with the region’s economic and professional priorities. This initiative represents our dedication to building public sector capacity through targeted educational opportunities that support the nation’s human capital development agenda.”
“This initiative shows what’s possible when African institutions embrace technology for inclusion. We are particularly focused on creating pathways for civil servants who represent the backbone of public service delivery across the continent,” Brook Negussie, CEO of eLearnAfricaLMS, noted in highlighting the transformative potential of the partnership.
The program has already garnered positive feedback from current participants, with one student noting, “This is a different ball game. The quality is exceptional — the standard is on another level.”
Aligning with both ECOWAS Vision 2050 and the African Union’s Agenda 2063, the online MBA program emphasizes education and innovation as key drivers of sustainable development. The curriculum strategically integrates core business subjects with essential modern competencies in digital leadership, ethics, and applied research, preparing graduates for critical leadership roles, including Operations Manager, CFO, HR Director, IT Project Manager, and Policy Advisor.
Applications for the third cohort of the Njala University Online MBA are now being accepted from qualified civil servants and other professionals across Africa.
