Our understanding of environmental issues and sustainability goals facing society are constantly challenging us to apply our scientific and technical knowledge to develop solutions to local and global problems and needs. Sustainability is generally defined as efforts to meet our present needs without compromising those of future generations. It, therefore, encompasses not only the use of environmental resources but also social and economic goals. Sustainability captures the interactions between all three elements – social, economic and environment. This course will focus on equipping participants with the knowledge and skills required to address sustainability challenges across a broad spectrum of activities.
