Programme Overview
The rapid growth of Universities in Africa has come along with complex procurement and contract management requirements. Effective and efficient procurement and contract management is at the heart of institutional continuous growth and development. Consequently, it is important that University staff involved in Procurement and Contract Management have the requisite skills the tasks demand. Universities which have engaged skilled procurement and contract management professionals to manage their growth, all need to ensure the skills of such professionals are constantly sharpened in line with current developments in that field. This training, being organised by the Association of African Universities will ensure, contract and procurement staff are consistent with the standards to manage the vital activities of the university.

Expected Outcomes
On completion of the course, you will be able to:
- Establish procurement needs of the university or project;
- Procure goods and services through developing requests, receiving and selecting offers and administering contracts;
- Understand the values and principles of the university and value diversity;
- Develop and monitor service to clients through developing, implementing and reviewing client service strategies;
- Gather and effectively analyse information from a range of sources;
- Apply the required processes, support the implementation of policy and encourage compliance with legislation;
- Effectively use a range of advanced workplace communication strategies;
- Identify and treat risks; and
- Implement workplace safety procedures and programs.
