AAU supports ICT staff from its member universities to attend AfNOG Training

The AAU Secretariat is pleased to report that 15 ICT (Information and Communication Technology) staff members from AAU member Beneficiariesuniversities benefited from being funded to attend the Africa Internet Summit (AIS) that was held in Gaborone, Botswana from 29th May 2016 to 10th June 2016. The AIS is an annual, regional, multi-stakeholder ICT conference. It is the pinnacle educational and business ICT event in Africa where key players in the Internet industry can interact with the global Internet community. The African Internet community which is drawn from academia, public and private sectors, technical organisations, governmental institutions and civil society, interact on Internet issues and Internet development in general.

The 15 ICT staff from 14 AAU member universities benefited from the pre-conference technical workshops and tutorials that were delivered by the African Network Operators Group (AfNOG). AAU paid tuition equivalent to US$1,500 to enable each technical staff from its member universities  attend this important training workshop and the AIS conference. The total amount invested by AAU was USD$22,500.

The fifteen ICT staff attended workshops from the selection below:

  1. Computer Emergency Respons Team  ( CT -E)
  2. Network Monitoring & Management  (NM -E)
  3. Scalable Internet Service     (SS-E)
  4. Scalable Network Infrastructure    (S1-E)
  5. Advanced Routing Techniques   –   (AR -E)
  6. Network Monitoring & Management  (NM -F)   (FRENCH)
  7. AfTLD – Advanced Registry  Operators Course  (AROC)
