The AAU in collaboration with Lupane University is organizing its annual DATAD training workshop under the theme “IRs, tools for knowledge creation and knowledge management”. This training will be held in Zimbabwe from 24-26 August 2016. This year’s workshop aims at training participants on how to implement and manage successful Institutional Repository platforms. Institutions seeking to join the AAU Database of African Theses and Dissertations (DATAD) (https://datad.aau.org) platform are strongly encouraged to apply to attend the training. They will have the opportunity to be taken through how to configure their IRs so that their content can be included on the DATAD platform. This workshop will be an excellent platform for meeting colleagues, sharing experiences and learning from each other. Target participants are librarians and IT support staff from national and university libraries.

- How HEIs benefit from Institutional Repositories
- Status of Institutional Repositories in Africa
- What makes Institutional Repository initiatives fail?
- A review of common Institutional Repository platforms
- Practical Session on setting up a repository using DSpace.
- Making your repository more visible
- Top tools for tracking the usage of your IR
- DATAD and its benefit for African HEIs
Registration
The registration fee is Five hundred USD ($500) per participant from an AAU Member University. Non-AAU Member University participants will pay $600.The registration fee covers the cost of accommodation, training, snacks, lunch and training material. Participants will cover their costs of air travel or transportation and related allowances. Interested participants are kindly requested to register online by clicking here.
