New MOOC platform offered as a service to partners

COL is happy to announce the launch of the MOOC for Development portal at Some of the open MOOCs offered by COL can be accessed from here.

COL is also pleased to announce that an interested partner institution can use this portal to create and offer its own MOOC. Up to 10,000 sign ups per course can be envisaged. This online service is built on the idea that offering a MOOC should be as easy as taking one. It allows learners in low bandwidth situations to access a MOOC; enables a learner to receive the audio track of learning materials on her/his phone; allows participation course discussions using Twitter or Facebook; and provides sophisticated analytics to the instructors to help track learner participation and performance. It is powered by mooKIT, a MOOC platform built by COL’s partner, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IITK).

Partners should have reasonable familiarity with creating online learning materials and should have the basic arrangements necessary to record videos. They should have adequate bandwidth to upload videos to a site such as YouTube.

Interested partners can contact for starter steps.
