eLearning Summit 2025: Strengthening Digital Education in Africa Through Quality, Collaboration, and Workforce Development

Press Release – Accra, Ghana (March 19, 2025) – The Association of African Universities (AAU), in collaboration with eLearnAfrica, is excited to announce the eLearning Summit 2025, scheduled to take place virtually on April 17, 2025, at 1 PM GMT / 3 PM SAST.
The summit will bring together higher education leaders, policymakers, instructional designers, edtech innovators, and industry experts to explore strategies for expanding digital learning opportunities across Africa under the theme “Transforming Online Learning in Africa: Scaling Quality, Partnerships, and Workforce Development through Digital Education“.
Following the success of the inaugural eLearning Summit, this edition will focus on enhancing the quality of online programs, fostering impactful partnerships, and aligning digital education with Africa’s workforce development needs.
Launch Event on AAU Talks
As part of the build-up to the summit, the event will be launched on AAU Talks on AAUTV on Thursday, 20th March 2025, at 1 PM GMT / 2 PM SAST. The launch will provide deeper insights into key issues surrounding e-learning in Africa and set the stage for discussions leading up to the main event.
What to Expect
The eLearning Summit 2025 will feature high-level discussions, expert insights, and practical solutions aimed at strengthening Africa’s digital education landscape. Participants can expect engaging keynote addresses, thought-provoking panel discussions, and case study presentations from leading universities and industry experts.
One of the summit’s highlights will be case studies showcasing successful implementations of online MBA programs and professional development courses. Universities that have effectively developed and scaled their online programs, increased student enrollments, and enhanced digital learning infrastructure will share their experiences. These presentations and panel discussions will offer valuable insights into best practices, challenges faced, and strategies for ensuring sustainability in online education.

AAU and eLearnAfrica Partnership
In 2016, eLearnAfrica entered into a partnership with the Association of African Universities (AAU), the largest higher education coordinating body in Africa, representing over 430 member universities across the continent. This collaboration aims to provide online, distance-learning opportunities to over 10 million African students, supporting universities in expanding their reach.
The partnership has made significant strides, now boasting over 140 registered users(universities, institutions, as well as individual professors and course holders). It has successfully designed, developed, delivered, and deployed three master’s degree programs and over 200 short courses in collaboration with institutions such as Rhodes Business School and Njala University.
