Course Name: International Academic Writing

Duration: 8 weeks

Target group : This course is designed for all academic writers at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. It is suitable for academic purposes and technical writers in organizations and research institutes. 

Overview of the course

The module provides the basics for students on essay writing, punctuation, plagiarism and  introduces students to rules of styles. It also tries to assist students in differentiating between US  and UK English and being consistent in using one at a time. 

At the end of this course, the student / participant will be able to:

• Write academic assignments at the graduate and post-graduate level (specifically, the student must write one response paper and one journal-grade major paper)
• Use structure and logical flow
• Understand the rules of US and UK spelling and punctuation placement
• Properly use various approved rules of style (Turabian, Chicago, Harvard, and Oxford)
• Use mandated Word templates
• Use Word styles (Heading 1, Heading 2, Normal, Quote)
• Avoid plagiarism
• Use Zotero software for citations and managing references
