Invitation to Participate in the International Deaf Blind Conference, Nairobi, Kenya, May 12 -14, 2022

The Deaf Blind International (DBI), USA and the Maseno University, Kenya, in collaboration with their partners are inviting individuals who are deaf blind along with their families, professionals, researchers, developers, service organizations, libraries, universities, national and international agencies and any other relevant partners in the field of Deaf blindness, to a conference dubbed “Deaf blind Reality in Africa: Meeting the Sustainable Development Goals- Opportunities and challenges”.

This conference is to raise awareness among Ministry officials that Deaf blindness is a distinct disability, and to promote the development of appropriate services through policy and practice to benefit deaf blind people and their families around the world. The conference comes off from 12th – 14th May 2022 at the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE), Nairobi, Kenya, and will include over 200 delegates from around the world. It aims to interrogate issues and share promising interventions on Deaf blindness; Publish the journal on Deafblind International based on the Conference papers; and  issue a communique on Action Oriented Resolutions to inform policy and practice. This will be a hybrid conference where participants will be engaged in both face to face and online sessions.

Call for Papers

Stakeholders interested in presenting papers at this conference are encouraged to submit their papers on the following themes:

  • Education and Transition of persons with Deaf blindness.
  • Families and Community based Rehabilitation (CBR) for persons with Deaf blindness.
  • Research, Policy and Advocacy for persons with Deaf blindness.

Deafblind International cordially invites you to submit your research papers, survey papers, case studies and academic papers in the aforesaid area from the 1st of February to 18th February 2022.
