The Association of African Universities (AAU) is a pan-African organization established to promote cooperation among higher education institutions across the African continent. Established in 1967, the AAU is the voice of higher education in Africa and aims to improve the quality of African higher education and strengthen its contribution to Africa’s development by supporting the core functions of higher education institutions and facilitating critical reflection and consensus building on issues affecting higher education. The AAU is headquartered in Accra, Ghana has a membership of more than 440 Higher Education Institutions and is the technical implementing arm of the African Union Commission (AUC) on higher education issues. The Association is also the coordinating agency of the Higher Education Cluster of the Continental Education Strategy for Africa (CESA 16-25). Through our guidance, our member universities are also responsible for implementing the AUC’s Science, Technology, and Innovation Strategy for Africa (STISA 2024).
We are a forward-thinking organization seeking self-driven, passionate, and creative individuals to join our dynamic team. Our enriching one-year national service program is designed to equip prospective National Service Personnel with the skills, knowledge, and exposure needed for success in various career paths.
WHO SHOULD APPLY
We invite applications for the following roles from graduating students (from Ghana only) eligible for National Service in 2024-2025, who possess the following qualifications:
• Research Assistants (BSc. in Data and Statistics, Economics, or Computer Science)
• Language Assistants (BSc./BA in French and or Arabic).
• Administrative Assistant (BA. in Administration, Secretarial Studies, Human Resources).
• Media Technical Support Assistants (Diploma/Bachelor’s in Multimedia Production (design, editing))
• Trainee Communications Assistants (BSc. in Communication Studies, Public Relations, Social Science/Studies, or Education ).
• Trainee User Interface (UI)/User Experience (UX) Designers (BSc. in Computer Science, Graphic Design).
• Trainee Network and Hardware Technicians (BSc. in Computer, or Information Technology).

REQUIRED SKILLS
- Strong Communication Skills: Proficiency in writing with an excellent command of the English language.
- Attention to Detail: Must possess a keen eye for details.
- Passion for Technology: Enthusiastic about computer networks and hardware troubleshooting – Applicable to the IT related roles.
- Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe XD, Sketch, etc., experience with JavaScript frontend frameworks, demonstrated experience as a UI/UV designer – Applicable to the IT related roles
- Language Proficiency: Skilled in translation and interpretation (in French, Arabic, or Portuguese) – Applicable to Language Assistant roles
- Multimedia Enthusiasm: Passionate about multimedia, sound engineering, and photography – Applicable to Media Technical Support Assistant roles
- Research and Publishing Interest: Strong interest in research, data analysis, statistics, writing, and publishing – Applicable to all roles
