Register today for the course on Food Security and Climate Change

Course Name: Food Security And Climate Change

Duration: 6 weeks

Target group:

OVERVIEW OF THE COURSE

The current food system (production, transport, processing, packaging, storage, retail, consumption, loss and waste) is under pressure from both non-climate stressors (e.g., population and income growth, demand for animal-sourced products), and climate change. Observed climate change is already affecting food security through increasing temperatures, changing precipitation patterns, and greater frequency of some extreme events. Climate change will affect all four dimensions of food security: food availability, food accessibility, food utilization and food systems stability. It will have an impact on human health, livelihood assets, food production and distribution channels, as well as changing purchasing power and market flows.

Some benefits of the course to students are,

  • This course will give the participants a firm understanding of the links and potential impacts of climate change on food insecurity.
  • The six modules will deliver the required knowledge to plan and implement action on the ground to prepare for weather-related disasters.
