  3. The Historic College of West Africa, Liberia. It was established in 1839 during the Commonwealth epoch in Liberia. During its formation, it was termed ‘The Liberia Conference Seminary or The Monrovia Seminary with Mr. Jabez A. Burton as its head. It was not until 1898 that it was converted to the College of West Africa known to many as C.W.A. It establishment was the initiative of the United Methodist Church seventeen years after it arrival in the Colony of the African territory of Liberia which remains Africa’s oldest independent state and the World’s second oldest Black independent state next to the 1904 country of Haiti. Today, Rev. PAYE Cooper Mondolo remains its President, Rev. Alex B. Harmon, Vice President, and Emmanuel W. Kofa, Director of Programs and Sponsor of the senior class.
