Unveiling the Future of Online Education in Africa: AAU-eLearnAfricaLMS to host Inaugural Edition of e-Learning Summit

Press Release – Accra, Ghana (March 13, 2024) – AAU-eLearnAfricaLMS has set Thursday, April 18, 2024, to hold the inaugural edition of its e-Learning Summit, a strategic event that seeks to bring together thought leaders in the higher education space to deliberate on emerging trends in online education in Africa.

This insightful summit which starts at exactly 12 pm GMT / 2 pm SAST,  will create an important platform for the discussion of challenges, innovations, and opportunities in the ever-changing landscape of online education, with the aim of shaping the future of education in Africa. Scheduled to take place virtually under the theme, Leveraging Modern Trends in Online Education in Africa: A Peek into the Future, the e-Learning Summit will focus on online programme development in higher education, cloud computing,  among other pivotal themes. The event will also spotlight significant milestones of the AAU-eLearnAfricaLMS project.  Stakeholders with aligned vision, who are interested in participating in this important Summit are invited to register by clicking this registration link.

The summit, to be hosted by eLearnAfrica, will empanel experienced educationists and researchers, and other higher-education stakeholders, like the Secretary General of the Association of African Universities (AAU), Prof. Olusola Oyewole; the Chief Executive Officer of eLearnAfrica, Mr. Brook Negussie; the Director of Rhodes Business School, Prof. Owen Skae. Others are the Vice-Chancellor of Nexus International University (NIU), Prof. Magnus Amajirionwu; the ICT Director of Njala University, Sierra Leone, Dr. Thomas Songu; the Director-General of the African Association for Public Administration and Management (AAPAM); Prof. George Scott; Global Channel Marketing Manager, , Mr. Paul Bacanu; and Learning Experience Designer, Tracy McLean.

Participants of this interactive and collaborative summit get the opportunity to engage and tap into the expertise and experiences of these seasoned higher education leaders, as well as contribute to the thought-provoking discussions on online education in the African higher education landscape. They will also get insights into the many benefits they can derive from the AAU-eLearnAfricaLMS project and how to leverage these benefits to excel in their academic pursuits and professional development.

About the AAU (Association of African Universities) and eLearnAfrica partnership

In 2016, eLearnAfrica entered into a partnership agreement with the Association of African Universities (AAU), the largest higher education coordinating body in Africa, comprising over 430 member universities across the continent. The agreement, which seeks to enable universities to expand their reach by providing online, distance-learning opportunities to over 10 million African students, has seen significant milestones being achieved over the years.

The partnership now boasts over 140 registered universities and other institutions, as well as individual professors and course holders. It has also had 3 master’s degree programmes and over 200 short courses successfully designed, developed, delivered, and deployed together with its partner universities, such as Rhodes Business School and Njala University.
