The Workshop on Research Methods for early career academics is being organised by the Association of African Universities,  to build the skills and capacity of early career academics in research methods and techniques. OBJECTIVES

The main objectives of this workshop are intended to:

1. inculcate the rudiments of modern-day research on early career academics,
2. share knowledge and skills in academic work that can enrich their intellectual output; and
3. offer support on research methods so that they become more knowledgeable and confident to do their academic work and related activities.

EXPECTED OUTCOMES

Participants of the workshop should be able to:

1. improved skills and knowledge to conduct research of international standard,
2. improved quality of research proposals; and
3. more and better-quality research papers and publications.

CONTENT TO BE COVERED

The contents of the workshop include, but are not limited to:

1. Approaches to research: Qualitative, quantitative and mixed research methods
2. Writing good research works and articles
3. Components of a proposal
4. Literature review
5. Sampling techniques
6. Data collection tools
7. Qualitative and quantitative data analysis
8. Research supervision

N/B: The payment details should indicate the workshop that is being paid for because there are 2 different workshops.

The fee covers tea/coffee, lunches, workshop materials, certificates, administration costs and local transport to and from the workshop venue and the selected hotels within a 5km radius from the workshop venue. It does not cover accommodation and travel expenses (air tickets).
