About the Association of African Universities
The Association of African Universities (AAU) is a non-profit organization founded in 1967 tasked with the mandate of advocating for the educational and related needs of African higher education institutions and, as far as practicable, coordinating the means by which these needs may be met. To this end, the Association plays a critical role in facilitating networking among its member universities and building capacity to help African universities across all regional and linguistic divides carry out their functions. Therefore, the website and related e-platforms are key for facilitating AAU’s work as the voice of higher education in Africa.
Background
AAU would like to shortlist firms / consultants who could support the re-design of its website and sub-websites. We therefore invite firms / consultants with expertise in website design, Drupal Content Management System, WordPress Content Management System, graphic design, database development, content editing, project management, data capturing, training in web design skills to express their interest to work with AAU and also submit Proposals. The overall task at hand includes:
- Update the AAU website Drupal platform – i.e. run security updates (The AAU website is currently available in English and French)
- Support the re-design of the Drupal-based AAU main page: https://aau.org and
- pages containing current programs & services
- pages containing past programs & services
- a basic page and the following content type templates – Announcements; Article; Gallery; Members; Video
- Support the redesign of Drupal-based AAU sub-domains / sub-websites on the same Drupal Installation:

- Support the quality assurance of the content
- Provide Drupal training to the Website Support person at AAU

Call Specifications
We request firms / Consultants that are keen to work with us on this assignment to submit EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST AND PROPOSALS. The Submission must include the following and not exceed 12 pages:
- LETTER OF INTEREST: 1 page
- COMPANY PROFILE: 3 pages – detailing company name, head office physical address, other contact details, names of company directors, company status, number of employees; volume of business, at least 3 references from institutions where the firm has provided effective website development, success stories, certifications, name of auditing firm
- 2 CV’s OF THE PROPOSED TEAM (e.g. PROJECT MANAGER & WEBSITE DEVELOPER) INCLUDING: 2 pages for each CV – Educational Qualifications; Professional Certifications; Experience with Website Development, Working Experience; Other Related Skills
- COPY OF TRADING LICENCE / COMPANY REGISTRATION DOCUMENTS: 1 page
- PROPOSED ACTIVITIES – in line with the tasks described in this call. 2 pages
- BUDGET – showing number of days for each quoted cost and overheads where applicable. 1 page
