The Association of African Universities, AAU in collaboration with the Instituto Superior de Ciências e Educação á Distância (ISCED) warmly invites you to the third regional training workshop on KOHA an open source Integrated Library Management System Software, taking place in Maputo, Mozambique from November 6^th – 9^th, 2018.

Objectives:

The four-day event seeks to unbundle the KOHA open source Integrated Library System (ILMS) to participants and institutions, and enlighten them on its benefits. Some of which are:

• Easy access to information for library staff and users due to effective searching and issuing of items
• Automation of alerts to remind patrons and staff about, for example, overdue items or arrival of new items
• Reduced time of processing of library items, due to MARC and z39.50 compatibility
• Possibility of an online supervision, reducing the line management responsibilities of senior staff
• Library management becomes easier through automated collection of data
• Through the acquisition module budgets can be more effectively managed
• Lower costs: Open source offers a lower total cost of ownership than traditional library systems. There are none of the traditional license costs associated with open source

Target audience of the workshop are:

Librarians, Library support staff members, IT personnel, Researchers, Students, Publishers, Policy makers, Funders, Journalists, Eecord managers, and Archivist.
