Professor Olugbemiro Jegede receives Prize of Excellence

IMG-20151017-WA0080The immediate past Secretary General of the Association of African Universities, Prof. Olugbemiro Jegede, has been awarded the Prize of Excellence by the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE), for his lifelong contribution to Open and Distance Learning.

Receiving the award, Prof. Jegede thanked the ICDE for the prestigious recognition and expressed his appreciation to all colleagues and stakeholders who had supported him and the open distance agenda over the years.

Prof. Jegede is the founding Vice-Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria and currently the Secretary to the Kogi State Government, Nigeria.

On behalf of all members, the Association of African Universities congratulates Prof. Jegede for achieving this feat.

About the ICDE CONFERENCE

The 26th ICDE World Conference was hosted by the University of South Africa at the Sun City, north of Johannesburg from 14-16 October 2015. The theme for this year’s conference was “Growing Capacities for Sustainable Distance e-Learning Provision”. About 900 delegates from 67 countries attended the biennial conference of ICDE. Institutions and individuals who had made great contributions to open,distance and e-learning were duly recognised and awarded during the conference.
