Celebrating Professor Olusola Oyewole’s Prestigious Appointment to the International Academy of Food Science and Technology

The Association of African Universities is delighted to announce the election of its Secretary General, Professor Olusola Bandele Oyewole, to the International Academy of Food Science and Technology (IAFoST). This remarkable recognition highlights Professor Oyewole’s exceptional contributions to the field of food science and his significant impact on higher education and international development in Africa and beyond.

As Professor Oyewole prepares to join esteemed colleagues at the New Fellows Induction Ceremony during the 22nd World Congress of Food Science and Technology in Rimini, Italy, in September 2024, the AAU extends its warmest wishes and congratulations. This event promises to be a momentous occasion where Professor Oyewole’s outstanding achievements will be celebrated and recognized on a global stage.

Professor Oyewole’s journey to the IAFoST is a testament to his dedication, expertise, and leadership in academia and international development. As a renowned scholar and Professor of Food Science and Technology (Food Microbiology and Biotechnology), Professor Oyewole has made significant contributions to research, education, and sustainable development initiatives across the continent.

With a distinguished career spanning various leadership roles, including Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria, and President of the Association of African Universities, Professor Oyewole has played a pivotal role in advancing higher education and research excellence in Africa. His visionary leadership and tireless advocacy have been instrumental in shaping the future of higher education and fostering collaboration among universities across the continent.

In addition to his academic achievements, Professor Oyewole has also made notable contributions to international development efforts, serving as a Senior Expert at the African Union Commission and leading various research and development projects sponsored by international organizations such as the British Government and the World Bank.

As we celebrate Professor Olusola Oyewole’s induction into the IAFoST, we commend his dedication, leadership, and commitment to advancing food science, higher education, and sustainable development in Africa and beyond. About The International Academy of Food Science and Technology (IAFoST)

IAFoST is an elected group of distinguished food scientists, technologists, and engineers who serve as Fellows of the Academy. IAFoST Fellows are distinguished by their scientific and professional contributions to food science and technology. They promote high standards of ethics and scientific endeavours among food scientists and technologists and serve as a source of scientific personnel and information to support international activities related to food science and technology through IUFoST. New Fellows are inducted during each World Food Congress.

Academy Fellows represent no organisation and serve as independent persons, forming a pool of scientific expertise from which IUFoST may draw non-aligned expert advice on scientific matters.
